This year, Investors for Paris Compliance (I4PC) is re-filing a shareholder proposal with Enbridge regarding its scope 3 emissions. At issue is the company’s contention that it does not need to take responsibility for the end use emissions of the fossil fuels it transports despite those emissions being material to its business success.
Because the company refuses to calculate and disclose these emissions, I4PC has calculated our own estimate using publicly available metrics coupled with accepted emissions factors. This is a rough calculation that shows the trend line — one that continues to rise, calling into question the company’s commitment to transition.
