Our Complaint to Ontario Insurance Regulator

We’ve filed a complaint with FSRA, Ontario’s insurance regulator, over soaring home insurance costs driven by climate damages, with premiums up 84% over the last decade, coverage shrinking, and no public analysis of whether Ontarians can keep paying. Unlike auto insurance, home insurance is a black box: rates keep climbing, insurers keep raising dividends, and key flood and fire risk maps stay hidden from homeowners and municipalities. Meanwhile, these same companies are still investing and underwriting billions in fossil fuels, driving up future claims and leaving Ontarians to shoulder the rising costs. FSRA has a mandate to safeguard the system and protect consumers, but so far there’s been no sign of action. We’re calling on them to step in and protect Ontarians from being left in the dark and on the hook.
